Girl in Knoxville child abuse investigation dies


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police say an 18-month-old girl in a child abuse investigation has died.

The toddler, identified as Brooklyn Stinnett, was pronounced dead Friday afternoon at UT Medical Center. Her body was taken to the forensic center for an autopsy.

The investigation of this case continues. Knoxville police and the Tennessee Department of Children Services are involved.

Police and medical responders went to Big Oak Apartments on Middlebrook Pike Tuesday night for a report that the girl was not breathing or responding.

Police say evidence from the investigation will be presented to the Knox County District Attorney General's Office for a review and determination of charges. They have not released any details on a suspect.
