PIKEVILLE (WATE) - Situated in both Van Buren and Bledsoe counties, Fall Creek Falls State Park is nestled where Middle Tennessee meets East Tennessee. Just a two-hour drive from Knoxville can offer you activities many state parks just don't offer.

Ronald Bragg would agree.

"I am not an outdoorsy person, but since I am in Tennessee I tried to be so," he said. "I am normally a 'let's hit the mall' person."

That didn't stop Bragg from meeting up with friends to enjoy the park.

"I thought it was really pretty and I noticed a lot of bees are out," he said, "but it's really pretty out here and I like it."

The park is 20-thousand acres of beautiful landscape.

"Fall Creek Falls is located on the Cumberland Plateau," explained park ranger Stewart Carroll. "One of the most beautiful areas in the country, areas with waterfalls, your canyons and really nice rock faces, and a lot of topography -- a lot of diversity in the landscape."

Carroll says the park is more than just a hike in the woods. There are opportunities to golf, golf, boat or just take in the sights like the breathtaking waterfalls.

It's an attraction worth the drive.

"Our visitation comes from all over the southeastern U.S.," said Carroll. "We get a lot of people from down in Alabama, the Huntsville area, down in that area. Of course, a lot of people from Knoxville come out because it's only 95 miles from Knoxville."

Barry Austin said he enjoys the park's beauty.

"I think we take it for granted sometimes because we kind of live in the woods or in rural setting, but it's definitely beautiful and second to none," he said.

If you're not into camping out, the Fall Creek Falls Inn is located in the park. All of the rooms have cable TV and bathrooms.

The inn also has a heated outdoor swimming pool and a game room for those not ready to fully rough it.
