Catching up with Ella from The Bachelor

POWELL (WATE) - Ella Nolan came back home last year after losing out on love on The Bachelor.

When we last spoke in February of 2010, the real estate agent was just finishing cosmetology school. She now has her license and is working at Le Coop Salon in Powell. "I love it. It's my passion. I love it," Nolan said.

One reason is that her new job allows her flexibility with her son Ethan, 9. "I bring my son with me here sometimes and he just kind of does his homework in the back," Nolan explained.

Last February, Ella told us she started dated a soldier after coming home from The Bachelor. "I actually got engaged and was supposed to get married in January after he got back from Afghanistan and then we pushed it out to April and then called it off," she said. "It was just going to be a huge custody thing with my son moving over to Fort Bragg. I was starting to have second thoughts so I thought I just need to just call it off."

Ethan has always been a big consideration in her dating life. "I'm a hopeless romantic and I think sometimes that may get me in trouble because I have this picture of what I think it's supposed to be like. It may just be my reality, but I'm not going to settle for less. I mean, if I'm supposed to be with someone then God will put them in my life and if not, then I'm okay with it just being me and my son," she said.

Instead of love, Nolan is focusing on Ethan and her career right now, not counting out a return to Hollywood. "I don't think I would ever move out to California. But if I could do something out there and then fly back I would, because East Tennessee is my home. I'm a small town girl," she said.

Nolan said she's done a few local commercials since she's been home. She would also like to go overseas and sign autographs for the troops this summer with some of the other women she stays in touch with from her season of The Bachelor.
