SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A man was indicted Monday on charges of assaulting an inmate at the Sevier County Jail.

A Sevier County grand jury indicted Edmund Walter Dahm, 39, on one count of aggravated assault.

The sheriff's office says the charge stems from "the assault that took place at the Sevier County Jail on June 6." Its investigation also began in June.

The victim, Ronald L. McDaniel, was attacked by another inmate and taken to UT Medical Center.

The FBI opened an inquiry last week into the assault of McDaniel.
