NASHVILLE (AP) - Sate Rep. Julia Hurley from Lenoir City says she carved her initials into her desk in the House chamber, but she doesn't understand why that's news.

WSMV-TV in Nashville first reported the initials J.C.H. had been carved into the desk Hurley occupies at the state Capitol.

Hurley said she cut her initials into the desk as she and other House members waited for the state Senate to adjourn in a late-night session in May.

She said she doesn't remember what she used to carve her initials and she wasn't thinking straight.
