Harlan County ATV riders find human remains


BLAIR, Ky. (WATE) - Police in Harlan County, Kentucky are conducting a death investigation after ATV riders discovered human remains at an abandoned strip mine site.

Kentucky State Police say one of the riders called 911 at 8:19 Monday night, saying they found the remains in the Blair community about 1.5 miles from the road.

Police have not identified the remains. They will be sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
