MORRISTOWN (WATE) - Law enforcement in Hamblen and Jefferson counties arrested five men and seized $110,000 Wednesday in a marijuana trafficking bust.

Hamblen County Sheriff Esco Jarnagin says the counties teamed up on the investigation due to the drug pipeline between the two counties.

The men were arrested as they allegedly made a 250-pound marijuana deal in Johnson City. Sheriff Jarnagin says although the deal was brokered in Hamblen County, the suspects wanted to finalize it in Johnson City.

Officers seized the marijuana and money.

Jefferson County Sheriff G.W. "Bud" McCoig says investigators are working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to determine whether the suspects entered the U.S. legally.

Jarnagin says when they go to court, both sheriffs will ask for the seized money to be returned to the county drug funds to continue fighting the drug problem.
