KNOXVILLE (WATE) - With flu season here, getting vaccinated seems to be at the top of many people's to-do lists. But where should you go and how much will it cost?

Getting a flu shot may cost less than you expect. Or it may be free if you have insurance accepted by the facility that does your vaccination.

At Target, pharmacist Jennifer Maffei gives dozens of shots on a daily basis.

"There's no appointment necessary, so you don't have to call ahead like you do at a doctor's office. You can just walk in and all you have to do is fill out a sheet of paper and you can get a flu shot," Maffei said.

A growing number of people are using clinics and pharmacies for flu shots. Here's a list you can check to see what works best for you:

Kroger and Target pharmacies provide flu shots for no charge if your insurance is accepted. If not, it's $25.

At CVS, you can get a flu shot without insurance for $29.99 plus a $5.00 store coupon good for other merchandise.

At Walgreens, if your insurance doesn't cover the shot, it will cost you $31.99.

You can get a flu shot at Walmart for $25.00 if you don't have an accepted insurance plan.

The Knox County Health Department offers free FluMist for children up to age 18, but there is a $15 administrative fee. For adults, the cost is $30 for the vaccine and the administrative costs.

Still, there are some people who prefer getting vaccinated at their doctor's office.

"I've been getting flu shots since I was 11 years old and always at the doctor. I am asthmatic and I want to be sure that I am there where he is if I have a reaction, although I have never had one," said Betties Corey, of Knoxville.
