HARROGATE (WATE) - A Lincoln Memorial University student is charged with arson for a dorm fire on October 15, according to the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office.

Sophomore Alicia King, 19, of Denton, is accused of setting the blaze in an elevator in Grant Lee Hall. She's also charged with underage consumption.

Several fire departments responded to the campus around 10:40 p.m. Saturday after students called about heavy smoke in the building.

King is accused of stuffing a hamburger wrapper into the side of the elevator and setting it on fire.

The fire damaged the elevator and caused smoke damage to the dorm's third floor.

King lives in a nearby dorm. Officials said she admitted at the scene that she started the fire and was taken into custody.

King was released from jail Monday on a $25,000 bond.
