Escaped Florida inmate captured

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Ohio authorities have arrested an escaped convict from Florida who is also wanted in a stabbing in Knoxville.

Officials say 52-year-old Rondell Reed was caught in Warren County, Ohio early Saturday morning following a high speed chase. Reed was awaiting a murder trial in Florida.

On Friday, Knoxville Police responded to a robbery call at the Ingles on Cedar Lane. Officials say Reed tried to steal the purse from a 70-year-old woman.

When the woman fought back, Reed stabbed her several times. Her injuries are non-life threatening.

Reed had been traveling in a car he stole from an elderly man in Georgia.

The case gained national attention earlier this week when Reed and another inmate, Leviticus Taylor, escaped from prison in Florida by putting dummies in their beds.

The two then traveled through air ducts and under a barbed wire fence. Taylor was captured in Florida late Monday night.

According to KPD, Reed will be charged with one count of especially aggravated robbery with a $500,000 bond for the stabbing in Knoxville. However, officials say it's unclear when the warrant will be served due to multiple felony charges and trials pending in several states.
