CLINTON (WATE) - Officials in Anderson County broke ground Friday on a new school.

It will replace alternative school called the Learn Center and will provide non-traditional instruction for up to 270 students.

Director of Schools Larry Foster says the school will serve a special group of students who sometimes struggle in other school settings.

"Our students that come into the program are often at-risk students that may have acted out behaviors because they can't function well in a traditional classroom. So they'll actually be involved with learning to cope with a different style of teaching a different methodology," Foster explained.

The school is expected to be open in time for the 2012-2013 school year.
