DANDRIDGE (WATE) - A tractor-trailer driver was killed Sunday night when his rig hit a bridge pillar on Interstate 40 eastbound.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the victim as Allen J. McEwen, 59, of Willowick, Ohio.
A THP report says McEwen was traveling on I-40 eastbound around 10:00 p.m. when he went into the median at the Interstate 81 split, struck the end of a guard rail and then hit a bridge pillar.
The tractor-trailer was hauling metal shelving.
