FARRAGUT (WATE) - Farragut was named the most business friendly city in the state by the Beacon Center of Tennessee.

The study scores each city on economic vitality, business tax burden and community allure.

Pharmacist Gayle Friedle has worked at Farragut Pharmacy for nine years. While hearing about the top ranking was news to her, she says she isn't surprised.

"Farragut is a very safe place to work. I enjoy all of the customers that come in. They're very friendly. They're very supportive of local business. I feel like we're very much supported by the community here," Friedle said.

Other businesses agree. Johnnie Rodgers, the manager of Prestige Cleaners, says Farragut is a great place to work.

"I think it's the friendliness of this town. It's very family oriented and just the happy people that are here," Rodgers said.

Farragut is the only city to receive this top ranking twice. It also won in 2006.

City officials say it's obvious why the business community wants to be in Farragut, but job performance and low tax burden got them the top spot.

"Our commitment to have no property tax, we have no business tax as well, it certainly offers a great environment for business to thrive and succeed. And I think we certainly been able to do that over the last few years," said Farragut Town Administrator David Smoak.

Smoak says Farragut is staying open for business for the long haul and the town will continue to grow, especially with businesses like Publix and Costco on the way.

Last year, Farragut came in second.
