SNEEDVILLE (WATE) - A highly-traveled bridge in Hancock County is shut down for an inspection on Tuesday.
The inspection of the Kyles Ford Bridge is expected to be complete by 3:00 p.m.
In November, the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced the bridge would be shut down for repairs. C
losing the bridge would have meant a 90-minute detour for some drivers.
However after people voiced their concerns, TDOT announced a new bridge will be built and the old Kyles Ford Bridge will remain open during construction.
The new bridge is expected to be under contract by the end of 2012.
