KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Volunteers were hard at work Tuesday preparing the Extreme Makeover build site for demolition.
The home of Daniel and Mandy Watson on Robinson Road will be demolished on Wednesday.
"Today has been a lot of hurry up and wait. Right now, we're running ahead of schedule so that makes me happy," said project manager Lori Gano.
Brush was cleared. Trees were taken down and electricity was rewired.
Skilled workers were at it all day, and volunteers were everywhere lending helping hands. "Clearing out paths, helping move drinks and food and just getting everything prepared for the coming week," said volunteer Laura Aldrich.
Many volunteers were at the site for hours and planned to stay as long as they could to help. "It makes you feel good to do things for other people. I'm going to keep doing that after the show because I want to pay it forward," Annie Woods explained.
This is just the beginning for the volunteers. They'll work around the clock in the days ahead.
