Food Lion store closings affect several East Tennessee locations

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - More than 100 Food Lion supermarkets are scheduled to close, including several East Tennessee locations.

The parent company, Delhaize America, announced Wednesday that 113 underperforming stores will be closed within the next 30 days, causing around 4,900 employees to be displaced.

Twenty-five Tennessee locations will close, including stores in Knoxville, Sevierville and Morristown and other cities.

The distribution center in Clinton will also close.

The locations in the 6 News viewing area include:

  • Decatur Pike, Athens
  • Charles Seivers Boulevard, Clinton
  • Genesis Square, Crossville
  • Centerline Drive, Knoxville
  • E. Andrew Johnson Highway, Greeneville
  • West Broadway, Maryville
  • East Andrew John Highway, Morristown
  • West Main Street, Sevierville

The company said it is trying to redevelop its brand strategy while focusing on future growth.
