KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Most of the volunteers at the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build in Knoxville do not know the Watson family.

Greg Adkins, though, has been a close family friend for 10 years. Adkins has been helping with the build since the day it started.

"I was out here yesterday and today and just can't really stay away," said Adkins. "They are such important people to us. We look up to them so much. Of all the people we know, they really deserve this."

Adkins said he was aware of the Watson's work on helping single moms.

He says they had only been running their non-profit Restoration House for five years, and feels their new home, plus additional apartments for the moms they help will help their program continue to grow.

"It's not a ministry a lot of people in our town knew about before Extreme Makeover, but as people get to know more about what they do at Restoration House, it's going to really help them out a lot," Adkins said.

Adkins has been in contact with the Watsons since they left to go on their week-long vacation. He said they have not asked about what has been going on, and he has already made the decision to keep all the details secret until they get back.

He plans to continue to volunteer each day until their home is complete.
