Extreme Makeover crews push on through snow and sleet

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Despite the winter weather Thursday, crews pushed on at the site of construction for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Knoxville.

Walls went up around 11:00 Thursday night at the new home of Daniel and Mandy Watson on Robinson Road.

Crews hoped to have the house entirely framed by Friday morning.

Supervisors said Wednesday's rain put them behind schedule by about six hours, but on Thursday night they said construction was behind by about 11 hours.

They were actually excited to see sleet and snow fall because they said it was easier for them to work in than the rain.

Still, crews kept heaters and even a small fire on site to stay nimble and keep as close to schedule as possible.

Designer Johnny Littlefield said Thursday's weather didn't come close to some of the temperatures he'd seen at other Extreme Makeover builds.

"Oh gosh, Kansas it was 116 degrees," said Littlefield.  "And Maine was 116 below, or at least it seemed like. It was freezing!"
