KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An East Knox County homeowner shot and wounded a suspect Friday afternoon in a home invasion.
The sheriff's office says the wounded man left the scene at 8750 Curtis Road in a car driven by another person.
The suspect was left at McDonald's at 5260 Millertown Pike and taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.
The homeowner's family says he was in the shower when he heard a loud crash that turned out to be the glass panel on the back door being kicked in.
The homeowner shot the suspect with a shotgun at least once in the back or backside, according to his family.
The suspect went out through the bedroom window of the 16-year-old daughter. She was at school at the time.
Chief Deputy Eddie Biggs said the suspect's injuries may be life-threatening, but the homeowner won't face any charges.
Investigators are looking for the driver of the getaway vehicle. They also have video from the homeowner to review.
