KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The speed of the construction crews at the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition site in Knoxville amazing.

Even with the extreme changes in weather from rain to storms and lightning to hail and then bitterly cold weather with snow, the build is progressing full steam. It will result in a new home and other structures for Daniel and Mandy Watson on Robinson Road.

A lot of the work is done overnight. The house wasn't even standing this time Thursday.

Now the house has taken shape, along with a garage and a duplex.

"What's driving me?" Brandon Anderson said. "Well it's a great cause, the family, the story behind it, our team. It's a culmination of everything."

Hundreds of volunteers are determined to complete the monumental task on time.

"It's incredible that so many people want to volunteer and how great a job they're doing. But in our early morning shift, we don't have as many people as we'd probably like to have," Mark Field said.

Construction crews admit they're about seven hours behind schedule Friday, but they plan to make it up.

"A lot of us work our shift, whether it's a day shift or a night shift, and you don't want to go home. I mean I've been here 18 hours and I don't want to go home," Anderson said.

But the build still needs help.

"I'm sure the weather is causing some of the folks not to come out that would have normally come out," Field said. "If people are signed up, we need them to show up. If people haven't signed up, we need them to get on the waiting list in case we need them."
