Free massages helping Extreme Makeover volunteers work better

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Volunteers at the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build got a special treat overnight.

Several licensed massage therapists donated their time to help those building the Watson's new home a boost.

"One of my clients is actually one of the people working on the build and she asked me to come work on her," said licensed massage therapist Danae Miley. "I can't justify being paid to go see you, how about I come every day for a few hours, work on as many people as I can."

Miley owns her own business called Open Hands Musculotherapy, LLC in Knoxville.

She called several of her friends, in the same field, to see if they would donate their time.

Pamela Griffin, a licensed massage therapist, also came to help.

"I'm really not a construction person," said Griffin. "I'm not much on that part, but I can help them get their job done a little bit better. Hopefully support them to keep them going."

They plan to continue to give free massages until the Watson's home is complete, and so far the response has been great.

"They don't have to take their muddy boots off," said Griffin. "If they are having a particular issue we work on them through all the layers of underwear and overalls and socks and everything else we can."

"It's been a huge response," said Miley. "Everyone's loving it. We are having a great time."
