KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Punky and Sara Halcomb aren't strangers at Extreme Makeover. This is the 14th build they've worked on, and they're considered part of the regular crew.

"There is an awful lot of good left in the world. The people that have worked on this show honestly care. Every single person that works. It's not just the designers, it's the people behind the scenes that no one ever sees on camera," said volunteer Sara Halcomb.

The couple hails from Oklahoma, and says they choose which builds to help with based on location. The Halcombs also volunteered for the Joplin episode, which aired Friday night.

"It touched me knowing that we had been there and what those people had gone through and how devastated they were, and we were able to be a part, a small part, of the rebuilding," said volunteer Punky Halcomb.

Punky and Sara hate to see the show end, and to say goodbye to old friends.

"We've met and made a lot of friends over the years and a lot of these people we won't see again. Sure, we can be in contact with them on Facebook, but it's not like seeing them in person."

Punky and Sara Halcomb are volunteer firefighters and EMS workers. They spend their vacation time volunteering on the show.
