Workers kick into high gear for final day of Extreme build

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - If the build site was busy and full of hustle and bustle before, it's double that now. Workers are everywhere and volunteers are working against the clock to get the job done by tomorrow's reveal.

"The night is when it all gets done. There's a lot less people in the way. A lot of volunteers can't stay overnight so there's a lot more room for crews to move around. You really see a lot of progress at night," said Nick Changas, a team leader on site.

By the looks of the site, the work seems to be endless. Landscaping has started, outside walls are being painted and workers are inside prepping the interior. Many say they'll do whatever it takes to get the job done.

"We'll be here until the job is complete and the last bit of concrete poured and everything we need to get done. It's going to be a long night," explained Dathan Cole, who works for Southern Mid Central Concrete.

Even though it's crunch time and there seems like a lot left to do, most workers are confident it will all get done on time.

"If I hadn't been here to see it I would have never expected it to get done but it looks like it is going to be complete. It's a lot of work with a lot of people but it's going to pay off," Cole said.
