KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Hundreds of people have volunteered to help build the Watson family's Extreme Makeover home, but for many of those volunteers, one day is not enough.

Rachel Byrge, of Knoxville, volunteered on the site for four days. She says it was "because the family, they are so deserving. They've helped so many people."

Some people have volunteered every day of the build. One of those people is Myles Walker, of Knoxville.

"I wanted to volunteer because I love to help," said Walker. "I love to volunteer. They need a helping hand. I just wanted to help out."

"I just felt like this is where I needed to be," said Angela Hawkins, who has worked 86 hours on the Watson's new home. "I cleared my schedule for this week. I wanted to be able to help."

Each volunteer says they are going to take something away from this experience.

"It's heart warming to know I'm making a difference in their lives, even though they might not have seen what I've done every day, but I know it makes a big difference," said Byrge.

All the volunteers we spoke with had never met the Watson's, but they had a message for them.

"Shout out to the Watson family," said Walker. "One love to ya'll. I hope to see you at the grand opening, glad you had fun, hope you enjoy your new house, your new home, you deserve it."

"Thank you so much for everything you've done because there are so many single moms out there who need help," said Byrge.

"Good luck," said Hawkins. "You have a beautiful home to come home to. Welcome back and thank you for all you do."

Even though the Watsons will get to see their home Tuesday night, volunteers will still be needed Wednesday to finish up the project.
