KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Volunteers were busy Tuesday night into Wednesday morning preparing for the Extreme Makeover home reveal in Knoxville, but their work didn't wrap up when the bus moved.

Jesse Katz volunteered more than 40 hours at the Robinson Road site helping get the home ready for Daniel and Mandy Watson and their three adopted children.

"I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. It's kind of like a modern day barn raising. It's just cool to be a part of it," Katz said.

He helped with everything from picking up trash to shoveling mulch and Wednesday morning, he said he was willing to do anything to help.

"Whatever the skilled craftsmen have missed, we'll be doing. I can't imagine what we'll be doing, but I'm here for the duration," Katz said.

The volunteers worked 24/7, making changes and improvements right up until the reveal Wednesday morning.

Project manager Scott Lawrence explained the need for help after the reveal. "The family will be home, but we need to clean up around the area. The neighbors' houses, the neighborhood. We kind of took it over, over the last week or so and we need a lot of volunteers to come out and help clean up and put stuff away."

Katz hopes the improvements will help the Watson family continue and expand their outreach to single mothers through their non-profit, The Restoration House of East Tennessee.

According to Lawrence, volunteers will not be needed overnight.

However, Lawrence says help will be needed starting Thursday morning at 9:00.
