WARTBURG (WATE) - The man accused of killing Wartburg Police Capt. Ralph Braden pleaded guilty to felony reckless homicide.

Eddie Dean Patterson was attempting to escape arrest last April when Capt. Braden tried to detain him.

The captain was badly injured during the incident and slipped into a coma after surgery the following day. He died in May.

An autopsy revealed that Capt. Braden's death was a result of brain injury caused by the treatment he received for the injury from the incident.

Patterson will serve a four-year sentence. A hearing is scheduled for March 2 to determine details on how he will serve that sentence.
