RUTLEDGE (WATE) - Grainger County sheriff's officers and drug agents are rounding up suspects identified in an undercover drug operation.
The Grainger County Grand Jury handed down 58 sealed indictments on January 11 in the investigation called "Grainger Strike."
The investigation is a joint effort of the sheriff's office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force.
"This is a tremendous effort put forth by the joint agencies during the six-month-long investigation," said Sheriff Scott Layel in a press release on Monday.
He also says Grainger Strike appears to be even more successful and moving more rapidly than the previous effort, "Operation Take Back Grainger," which concluded in July 2011.
"We expect Grainger Strike to eclipse that effort in total indictments and take us into other counties and possibly multiple states when all is said and done," Sheriff Layel said.
