MILLS RIVER, N.C. (WATE) - Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has chosen a North Carolina site for its new eastern U.S. brewery.
The company announced Wednesday that Mills River in Henderson County will be the home of its new brewery, restaurant and gift shop.
The town is along the French Broad River, 12 miles south of Asheville.
In 2011, the company said it was interested in sites around Alcoa and Blount County. Tennessee lawmakers even changed state alcohol laws to help make the state more attractive.
But in December, the brewing company passed on Alcoa, saying there was a natural, environmental issue.
Sierra Nevada says its reasons for choosing the Henderson County site include water quality and quality of life issues for its employees.
