KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man was arrested Wednesday night on DUI and several other charges following the armed robbery of an East Knox County convenience store.

Sheriff's officers responded to the armed robbery of Weigels, 5904 Washington Pike, at 9:45 p.m. The description of the suspect's white Ford pickup truck was broadcast to all officers.

At 9:55 p.m., a Knoxville police officer spotted a white 1975 Ford pickup turning onto S. Mall Road from Washington Pike.

The officer stopped the truck and saw the driver, Mark Gregory Hensley, 41, of Luttrell Road in Knoxville, pushing something under his seat, according to police spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

Hensley strongly smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and an almost empty can of beer fell to the ground as he got out of the truck, DeBusk said.

Sheriff's officers responded to the traffic stop. Weigels clerks identified Hensley as the robbery suspect. They said he'd been in the store several times.

Officers found a .32 chrome revolver, cash, a dark jacket, a hat and a mask in the pickup truck.

Hensley is charged aggravated robbery, DUI second offense, driving on a revoked license, no vehicle registration and having an open container.
