WARTBURG (WATE) - An Oliver Springs High School vice principal is facing domestic abuse charges in Morgan County. Sheriff's deputies say she's accused of assaulting her husband.

Authorities took Donna Moore into custody around 12:15 a.m. Friday after her husband called 911 to report the assault at their home.

"He stated that his wife became angry and starting and assaulting him," said Morgan County Chief Deputy Steve Cochran.

The sheriff's office report says Moore "came home very intoxicated and began yelling at her husband." When he tried to walk away, the report claims Moore picked up an unknown object and threw it at him, hitting him in the back of the head.

Her husband reported two small cuts on his forehead.

Roane County Director of Schools Dr. Toni McGriff says Moore is on administrative leave until the school system conducts its own investigation. No disciplinary actions will be taken until that investigation is finished.

Cochran says Moore does not have a previous arrest record. "She never caused any problems. She, as far as I know, has never broken the law before. We never had any issues with her before," he said.

The sheriffs' office report also says there was a child asleep at the home at the time of the assault.

Moore was released Friday from the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

She's scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on February 9.
