KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Sheriff's officers arrested a burglary suspect Tuesday afternoon after a chase that involved two visits to the same North Knox County convenience store.
Christopher O'Neil, 26, will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, theft, burglary, aggravated assault, and driving on a revoked license.
The Knoxville Police Department is also expected to charge him with numerous car burglaries.
The sheriff's office says O'Neil has a criminal history in Knox County dating back to 2007. It includes violation of probation, theft, vehicle burglary and driving on a revoked or suspended license.
O'Neil is also wanted in Roane County for failure to appear on a drug charge.
The arrest incident Tuesday started shortly before 2:00 p.m. when a sheriff's officer spotted a stolen Ford F-150 pickup truck at Weigels, 6802 Central Avenue Pike.
Two passengers entered the store and O'Neil took off in the truck with officers chasing him. They lost him on Rifle Range Road.
Officers went back to Weigels, found O'Neil there again and tried to box him in. The sheriff's office says he backed into one of the patrol cars, doing minor damage and tried to run over another officer.
O'Neil fled and abandoned the truck at an apartment complex on Bruhin Road.
Airwatch spotted him nearby and O'Neil was taken into custody without incident.
