MARYVILLE (WATE) - A Maryville man is charged with domestic aggravated assault after the sheriff's office says he shot his son in the chest Sunday night during an argument.
The victim, Christopher Kirkland, 44, of N. Sixth Street in Maryville, is listed in serious condition at UT Medical Center.
His father is John Tilden Kirkland, 64, of Andrew Way in Maryville.
Deputies responded to the Andrew Way residence Sunday around 7:30 p.m. They found Christopher Kirkland inside with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Witnesses said the father and son were arguing when they heard gunshots in the living room.
John Tilden Kirkland is being held in the Blount County Jail on a $15,000 bond. He's due for a court hearing on February 10.
