KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One man has been taken to the hospital after being shot in the back late Friday night.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. on the 2500 block of Martin Luther King Junior Avenue when he was leaving a party.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, told police he was walking to his car when he heard gunshots. He started running, and that's when he was shot.
He said he then went to his apartment in Walter P. Taylor Homes and asked his cousin to call 911.
He was taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating.
