ROGERSVILLE (WATE) - A Hawkins County man was arrested on charges of allegedly abusing his girlfriend's 18-month-old daughter.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson says emergency room doctors at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital told deputies they suspected the toddler had been abused after examining her.

Doctors said they saw marks and bruising on the child's face, neck, torso and legs.

The child's mother brought her to the hospital for treatment of a possible rash.

Sheriff Lawson says the mother's boyfriend, Christopher G. Clamon, 22, admitted to injuring the child.

Clamon is charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect.

He's being held in the Hawkins County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He's scheduled to be in court on March 5.

Authorities placed the toddler with a relative.
