Blasting accident injures man across from Morristown construction site

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - A blasting accident Friday at a construction site in Morristown injured a man and damaged several vehicles.

Mountain Reclamation & Construction has been clearing property at W. Andrew Johnson Highway and Panther Creek Road by doing blasting.

Police say a piece of rock went through the window of a man getting gas at a BP station across the street. The rock went through the passenger window and struck Michael E. Williams, 57, of Morristown, who was in the driver's seat.

Williams was taken to Morristown–Hamblen Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Four vehicles were damaged at the construction site, and several cars were damaged at a car lot across from the site. The BP sign was also damaged.
