Knoxville man arrested on sales tax evasion charges

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was arrested Thursday on charges of sales tax evasion.

The Knox County Grand Jury returned a 12 count indictment on February 28 against Jalal Boudarga, 39.

Boudarga is charged with filing fake sales tax returns for Woodland Mart & Deli from January through December 2009.

The Tennessee Department of Revenue says this case resulted in underreported sales tax of $33,469.08.

Boudarga's bond was set at $2,500. He could be sentenced up to a maximum of two years in the state penitentiary and fined $3,000 for each count.
