PIONEER (WATE) - The collapse of a section of embankment Thursday along Interstate 75 southbound in Campbell County has reduced traffic to one lane.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the outside lane is closed at mile marker 143 near the Stinking Creek Road exit, and the inside lane remains open.

The slide was reported at 1:20 p.m.

There's significant cracking along the right shoulder moving toward the outside lane.

TDOT maintenance crews are installing concrete barrier walls as a safety precaution.

Geotechnical engineers were at the scene for assessments.

There's no estimated time when the lane will be reopened, according to TDOT spokesman Mark Nagi.

Motorists should use caution in the area and expect delays. US 25W (SR 9) can be used as an alternate route around the area.
