NEWPORT (WATE) - The court on Monday turned down an attempt by a Cocke County couple to receive judicial diversion in connection to a dog attack that badly injured a ten-year-old boy.

Jennifer Switzer, 21, and Anthony Lugar, 22, will remain on two years of supervised probation.

The couple pleaded guilty in January to allowing animals to run at large, causing serious bodily injury. They received probation in a plea agreement.

Brandon Williams was attacked in August 2011 by the couple's pit bull mix and a male dog outside their home on Branch Drive.

The dogs ripped off Williams' ears, which surgeons at UT Medical Center were not able to reattach.

The court also approved a restitution amount of $376 to Williams and his family. That's the amount not covered by insurance and community donations to the victim.
