KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A woman is dead after an head-on, early morning crash on Alcoa Highway.
Knoxville Police said Tiffany Tate, 25, was driving her car in the wrong direction on the roadway near I.C. King Park struck a minivan owned by Royal Taxi.
Both drivers were taken to UT Medical Center where they both underwent surgery. Tate died during that procedure.
Police are continuing to investigate why that driver was traveling in the opposite direction.
The identity of the other driver has not been released.
