KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville man who was tried for dragging a dog behind his truck and nearly killing it has been arrested on drug charges.

Neighbors told police they suspected drugs were being dealt at the home of Jimmy Lovell, 47, on Pilkay Road.

Officers said they saw multiple oxycodone purchases during their investigation and found even more drugs inside the home.

They arrested Lovell Wednesday night and charged him with two counts of violating a drug free school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He's being held in the Knox County Jail on bonds totaling $30,600.

Lovell stood trial in February for animal abuse in what became known as the Little Brown Dog case. However, the jury couldn't reach a verdict. The new trial is scheduled for August 7.
