KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville officials have released a new list of requirements for a mulch company in the wake of April's massive fire.

The fire marshal is asking for a comprehensive fire protection plan from Shamrock Organic Products.

Until that's approved, the fire marshall is setting the following rules before shamrock can resume operations:

  • Mulch piles cannot exceed 25 feet in height, 200 feet in length, and 100 feet in width.
  • The piles must be 30-feet apart
  • The site must have easy access for first responders.
  • Shamrock must have an employee on site at all times as a fire watch.
  • Before the city's waste contract resumes, Shamrock must put together a stormwater plan and have tests to make sure the remaining mulch is safe for the public.
