KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Hundreds of athletes competed in Knoxville Sunday in the Revolution3 Triathlon.

More than 1,000 people competed and hundreds from the Knoxville area volunteered.

Athletes had to endure a mile-long swim, a 25-mile bike ride and then run 6.2 miles.

6 News caught up with winners of the big race.

"It was a good day. It was a tough, honest race. You know, Knoxville has a mixture of everything out there. It is hot, the water is cold. You know, there are hills. There's flat areas. It's technical. It was a tough interesting race," said triathlon winner Greg Bennett.

"Knoxville's a really cool town. It's a beautiful setting. It's a beautiful course. Rev3 did a great job. So, I got a lot of family here which is nice. They've all come from South Carolina and Indiana. It's just a fun place to come," said winner Kelly Williamson.

This is the third year Knoxville has hosted the Revolution3 Triathlon.
