NEWPORT (WATE) - The case against a man accused of murdering a Cocke County teen was the subject of a court hearing Wednesday.

Jeffery Lee Stock is charged with rape, theft, arson and murder in the death of Megan Maxwell.

The teen went missing on April 26, 2009. Her remains were found in the woods of rural Cocke County in November 2010.

The judge denied a motion by Stock's lawyer, Keith Haas, for the state to give what's called a bill of particulars, a time and place where the slaying happened. The state argued that they had satisfied the request already.

Haas was granted a motion to have access to Maxwell's burned car.

He also asked that any statements from jail house snitches and inmates from any jail be banned from trial, but the judge said that will be decided in trial.

Haas argued in March for a change in venue, citing negative comments in online reporting at WATE.com and other sites. The judge, however, said the court would be careful to pick an impartial jury.

Stock is currently serving a 72-month sentence for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to Tennessee.

Stock's father, Terry Stock, is charged with being an accessory after the murder.
