Robot Zoo comes to ETSU's natural history museum

JOHNSON CITY (AP) - Larger-than-life animal robots will soon be on display at East Tennessee State University's natural history museum.

The Robot Zoo exhibit is based on a children's book by the same name and explains the biomechanics of animals that include a chameleon, a platypus and a house fly.

Machinery in the robot animals simulates the body parts of their real-life counterparts. For instance, muscles become pistons, intestines become filtering pipes and brains become computers.

The Robot Zoo opens Memorial Day Weekend and runs through Labor Day.

The traveling exhibit has been displayed at museums across North America.
