CARYVILLE (WATE) - One lane of Interstate 75 southbound is reopen in Campbell County. One lane also remains open for northbound travelers.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says work to repair a massive landslide continues on the southbound side at mile marker 143.

They have been working since March 8 to repair damage from an embankment collapse, which officials say was one of the most significant in Tennessee history.

A three-mile stretch of I-75 is down to one lane of traffic in each direction, from mile marker 141 to mile marker 144.

Motorists should expect potential long delays and use extreme caution while traveling through the area.

Wide loads are restricted from traveling through the area and are being detoured around the I-75 landslide.

I-75 southbound wide loads: Take Exit 62 (Mt. Vernon) in Kentucky and follow U.S. 25 to State Route 461 to State Route 80 to State Route 914 (Bypass) to U.S. 27 into Tennessee and follow SR 63 back to I-75 at Exit 141 (Oneida/Huntsville).

I-75 northbound wide loads: Take Exit 141 (Oneida/Huntsville) in Tennessee and follow State Route 63 to U.S. 27 into Kentucky. Then take State Route 914 (Bypass) to State Route 80 to State Route 461 to U.S. 25 back to I-75 at Exit 62 (Mt. Vernon) in Kentucky.

The closure has slowed traffic, forced LaFollette police officers to work overtime, and resulted in a number of wrecks on the detour routes.

One person was killed on the U.S. 25W detour route last week when the tractor trailer he was driving rolled over.
