JACKSON (AP) - Authorities say two people have been charged in the death of a four-month-old Saint Bernard puppy.
Dresden Police Chief Randal Walker said Tuesday Preston Odle, 18, and Levi Evans, 19, are facing aggravated animal cruelty charges.
The Jackson Sun reports that the teens are accused of breaking the animal's ribs, stabbing it, kicking it and hanging it in a tree.
Walker said Odle was given the puppy by a resident looking to find it a home, but Odle decided he didn't want the dog anymore. The teenagers were released on bond.
A woman who answered the phone at Odle's residence said he wasn't there and hung up Wednesday.
There was no published phone listing for Levi Evans in Dresden and he could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
