KNOXVILLE (WATE) - There's a threat of legal action by a former employee of the University of Tennessee Athletic Department.

Debby Jennings, the former associate athletics director for media relations, became a legend behind the scenes for the Lady Vols basketball program over the past 35 years.

However, she says was forced to retire.

Jennings' retirement was announced by the university last week.

In a letter from Jennings' attorney, David Burkhalter, to the university, she alleges the decision to retire was not her own.

The letter describes a May 15 meeting with Athletic Director Dave Hart in which she was given an ultimatum to resign, retire or be fired.

While at that meeting, Jennings says her computer was confiscated and many emails deleted.

Her attorney says Jennings is seeking an "amicable" resolution and has given the university 10 days to respond.
