WARTBURG (WATE) - A man and woman who worked at the Morgan County Correctional Complex died Thursday afternoon in a shooting.

It was reported at 4:00 p.m. in a home on Meadowview Church Road in Wartburg.

Family has identified the man as Gary Hall, who worked as a prison guard, and the woman as his ex-girlfriend. They say she was a nurse at the same facility.

Detectives say it could be a murder-suicide. One of the victims called 911 shortly before the shooting.

"We are looking into that as a likely situation," said Morgan County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Steve Cochran about the possibility of a murder-suicide.

Hall's sisters said the couple had been having problems and had recently broken up.

"She wanted more than he wanted. She wanted to get married and he didn't," said Sue Rogers, Hall's sister.

A neighbor who works at the prison with Hall said he worked the day shift on Thursday and ended his shift at 2 p.m. The 911 call from one of the victims came in about two hours later.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is helping the sheriff's office with the case.

Detectives were on scene late into the night Thursday.
