NEWPORT (WATE) - The Cocke County Sheriff's Office says one man was killed Friday morning and another was wounded when shots were fired during an attempted robbery for drugs.

Three men entered the trailer home at 332 Leaf Way about 2:54 a.m. to take cash and drugs, according to Sheriff Armando Fontes.

The man who lived there, William Andrew Mortimer, 27, was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man, Mortimer Josh Baker, 24, was shot in the head and flown to UT Medical Center.

The sheriff says James Michael Brewer, of Cosby, was taken into custody on unrelated charges.

Two other suspects from Knoxville are being sought in connection to the case. Sheriff Fontes says he won't release their names until his detectives and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation finish the investigation sometime next week.

All the suspects are known drug addicts, according to the sheriff.
