OAK RIDGE (AP) - The Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge is being recognized for its commitment to a safe work environment.
The Department of Energy has granted Star Level status to the complex for its procedures. A flag-raising ceremony will be Tuesday to designate the achievement, with some 150 invited guests asked to participate.
Specifically, the designation means compliance with DOE orders and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
The complex maintains the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile and has other duties.
